AVE Ultra: 2019 Test Programme
AVE ULTRA has undergone a series of tests to validate its hull performance characteristics.
Photos show AVE Ultra No. 1 that is being used for test purposes - the finish and accessories on carbon-xylium and carbon-epoxy versions will look quite different.

Lac des Dagueys
Flotability, stability and load tests undertaken at Lac des Dagueys in early 2019.
AVE conducted extensive hydrodynamic research into the AVE ULTRA hull design. A trimaran hull profile was adopted and AVE developed a mathematical model to simulate and to optimise the flow of water between the hulls; the resulting design accentuates the acceleration of water in a swirling movement that decreases drag and increases propulsion efficiency by artificially increasing the effective length of the hull. |
Hull efficiency was tested in practise on the Dordogne river; the boat progressed upstream against a 4 knot current with four people onboard, using only a 0.34 hp electric outboard ; (furthermore, the test hull was constructed in vinylester and fibreglass, and therefore without the significant weight savings of AVE ULTRA).

AVE Invited to JEC World

In March 2019, AVE was invited by Airbus to speak at the leading composites trade fair, JEC World. AVE presented the science behind the creation of Xylium, the most advanced resin for nautical applications in the World:
- >30% lighter than epoxy carbon fibre
- >5 times the shear strength than epoxy carbon fibre.
